I came for the salvation of the world

Why am I Here?

Why am I here?  My stock answer is I am here to teach love, but today’s A Course in Miracles lesson takes that idea and runs with it.  It’s bigger than that.  It’s more glorious than that.  I am here for the salvation of the world.

I awoke in gratitude.  I must have uttered “thank you” several hundred times within fifteen minutes of arising.  I awoke next to my husband: my healthy, lucid husband.  I awoke with our new health insurance cards on the coffee table.  I awoke with a kind note from a neighbor inquiring if she could be of service.  I awoke with love in my heart for everyone and everything and I knew that is the key to salvation.  For whatever reason, this morning I knew that my job was to love as God loves, with perfect purity that overlooks mistakes that do not matter.  God’s love for His Son is so boundless, so unfettered, so immense and absolute that is washes away all guilt and ideas of imperfection is a heartbeat, and somewhere in the midst of my vast gratitude this morning, I understood today’s lesson.  It is not that I am asked to do “something special,” that God has singled me out and assigned me the role of Jesus in the Christmas story or something.  No, I am here for the salvation of the world is void of specialness.  In the universality of loving as God loves, all ideas of specialness fade.  “Here is a thought from which all arrogance has been removed, and only truth remains. “ I am here for Love, only love; nothing else.  There is nothing else.

The longer I do this, the more it starts to permeate my thick skull, what it’s all about and why I’m here.  I am here to witness love.  To give it and receive it.  To be it and to have it.

Nothing real can be threatened.  Nothing unreal exists.  We made the rest up – a fantasy we created to play at what it would be like if we really could be separate from God.

In our Tuesday night group, we read the introduction each week, and frequently joke that we don’t know why we bother to read the rest of the book since the intro tells us everything we need to know:

1 This is a course in miracles. It is a required course. Only the time you take it is voluntary. Free will does not mean that you can establish the curriculum. It means only that you can elect what you want to take at a given time. The course does not aim at teaching the meaning of love, for that is beyond what can be taught. It does aim, however, at removing the blocks to the awareness of love’s presence, which is your natural inheritance. The opposite of love is fear, but what is all-encompassing can have no opposite.

2 This course can therefore be summed up very simply in this way:

Nothing real can be threatened.
Nothing unreal exists.

Herein lies the peace of God.

“The opposite of love is fear, but what is all-encompassing can have no opposite.”  That tells you the truth right there – love is all-compassing and it’s all there really is.  Not ego love, but God Love, which is all-inclusive and total.  All-encompassing.  How could what is all-compassing have an opposite?

Here is today’s lesson:

Lesson 319

I came for the salvation of the world.

Here is a thought from which all arrogance has been removed, and only truth remains. For arrogance opposes truth. But when there is no arrogance the truth will come immediately, and fill up the space the ego left unoccupied by lies. Only the ego can be limited, and therefore it must seek for aims which are curtailed and limiting. The ego thinks that what one gains, totality must lose. And yet it is the Will of God I learn that what one gains is given unto all.

Father, Your Will is total. And the goal which stems from it shares its totality. What aim but the salvation of the world could You have given me? And what but this could be the Will my Self has shared with You?

“What one gains is given unto all.”  So today, I allow the love of God to marinate my soul.  I stay in gratitude.  I love as God’s love – totally, without judgment, without distraction for the illusions made up by misguided beings thinking that are separate from God.  I don’t judge it.  I just love it.  I let God’s love in knowing that if I can gain that (when I gain that, outside time; there is no time, it’s part of the illusion), it is given unto all.

Only the love is real.  Thank you, God.  Only the love is real.

Namaste, my friends, Namaste.
