Today’s ACIM lesson, #329, I have already chosen what You will, is yet another step toward accepting that although ego tells me otherwise, I do, in fact, want God’s will for me. The Course tells me, “If God’s Will for you is complete peace and joy, unless you experience only this you must be refusing to acknowledge His Will. His Will does not vacillate, being changeless forever.” It is telling me to relax, go with the flow; follow My lead and it will be amazing! It is already amazing. We say this is our Tuesday group every week, yet I still find I forget it sometimes. Love is everywhere, all around us in every moment. If we don’t feel as if that is true it is because we are clocking our awareness of it. Not that it is missing, but that we (I) are (am) listening to ego rather than listening to the Holy Spirit.
The mind-blowing thing is that we can’t screw it up. We can delay our joy. We can deny ourselves the experience of the love that God has given us, but we can’t eradicate it. Everything that appears to be out of accord with God’s will is being purified. “We said before that the Holy Spirit is evaluative, and must be. He sorts out the true from the false in your mind, and teaches you to judge every thought you allow to enter it in the light of what God put there. Whatever is in accord with this light He retains, to strengthen the Kingdom in you. What is partly in accord with it He accepts and purifies. But what is out of accord entirely He rejects by judging against. This is how He keeps the Kingdom perfectly consistent and perfectly unified.” It is already done. We can’t change eternity. How much easier it is to surrender and allow God to run the show. (See yesterday’s lesson I choose the second place to gain the first.)
From last year’s writing:
It was taken me awhile to learn that God is not a bully who forces me to accept His Will. I mean, intellectually I know this. I recognize that I am loved, loved, loved and I appreciate the depth of Love I feel as a result of studying the Course. But like many spoiled brat humans, now that I have free will, I think, “Wow, what if I ditched God and ran the show myself.” That’s ego talking in case you failed to notice. That’s what ego always does. Forget that we are always loved, protected, cared for; forget that “He will give you everything but for the asking.” Forget how good we have it. Forget that I have already chosen in my own best interests. Let’s do our own thing!
Ego tries to convince me that its gifts are somehow preferable to perfect love, peace, and serenity. That unbridled joy is a poor substitute to what it has to offer.
God is Love and “Love offers everything forever.”
Ego is fear. “Produced by fear, the ego reproduces fear. This is its allegiance, and this allegiance makes it treacherous to love because you are love. Love is your power, which the ego must deny. It must also deny everything this power gives you because it gives you everything. No one who has everything wants the ego. Its own maker, then, does not want it.”
Even though logically, it makes no sense to listen to ego rather than God, spoiled brat humans that we are, we do. We listen to ego and forget that there is nothing we can do to make our delusion of separation a reality.
“6 To think you can oppose the Will of God is a real delusion. The ego believes that it can, and that it can offer you its own “will” as a gift. You do not want it. It is not a gift. It is nothing at all. God has given you a gift that you both have and are. When you do not use it, you forget that you have it. By not remembering it, you do not know what you are.”
Here’s the thing: the game is rigged. We have already chosen God’s will. Because we think we are in time rather than eternity, we think, erroneously, that we can somehow make a choice other than God’s will. But God isn’t that cruel. He installed a failsafe before allowing us to go off and play in the illusion of time. All the stuff we take so seriously is only a dream that waits on us to awaken and love one another. All the one anothers. Not just a few. Not just the ones we like and have judged worthy, but ALL. It’s an all-inclusive deal. (“Take that , you holy-than-thou, judgmental tight-ass Fundamentalists!” Shit!!! I have to include them, too!) God’s will is shared by all of us.
I have already chosen what You will.
Father, I thought I wandered from Your Will, defied it, broke its laws, and interposed a second will more powerful than Yours. Yet what I am in truth is but Your Will, extended and extending. This am I, and this will never change. As You are One, so am I one with You. And this I chose in my creation, where my will became forever one with Yours. That choice was made for all eternity. It cannot change, and be in opposition to itself. Father, my will is Yours. And I am safe, untroubled and serene, in endless joy, because it is Your Will that it be so.
Today we will accept our union with each other and our Source. We have no will apart from His, and all of us are one because His Will is shared by all of us. Through it we recognize that we are one. Through it we find our way at last to God.

What I am can never change. What you are can never change. We have no will apart from God’s. The part that thinks it is separate is make-believe.
And here is what I think is the most amazing piece: we are limitless. It is only our beliefs in our separation that obscures that truth. “ Any belief you accept apart from this will obscure God’s Voice in you, and will therefore obscure God to you. Unless you perceive His creation truly you cannot know the Creator, since God and His creation are not separate. The oneness of the Creator and the creation is your wholeness, your sanity and your limitless power. This limitless power is God’s gift to you, because it is what you are.”
As I learn to relinquish judgment, I look upon all of God’s creation with eyes of forgiveness, eyes that know that nothing ever happened.
It is a relief.
So I give thanks as I learn to let go of thinking that I can have a will apart from God’s (which would belong to ego and I’m starting to get that that dude and I are not buds). I give thanks that I have already chosen in my own best interest. I give thanks that as I let go of judgment, I get a glimpse of my own limitlessness. I give thanks that I can never lose my way “for God leads you.” I give thanks that I am the holy Son of God Himself. I give thanks that “There is no order of difficulty in miracles.”
I give thanks for God’s will and that it is mine.
The game is rigged.
